French shipping and logistics giant CMA CGM has agreed to acquire FedEx Supply Chain for an enterprise value of US$1.4 billion, significantly expanding its contract logistics footprint in North America. Once completed, the business will be integrated into CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM's logistics subsidiary, nearly tripling its North American contract logistics operations.
The acquisition will add approximately 10,000 employees, bringing CEVA's North American network to around 150 warehouses and 20,000 employees. The transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
As part of the agreement, FedEx and CMA CGM will also establish a long-term commercial partnership, with FedEx continuing to utilise CEVA's contract logistics capabilities while CMA CGM gains access to expanded ocean freight opportunities through FedEx. The deal reflects the growing industry trend of integrating shipping, freight forwarding, and contract logistics into comprehensive end-to-end supply chain solutions.
