Operations commence at Shanghai Port Northeast Asia empty container center

The busiest container port in the world has inaugurated Shanghai Port Northeast Asia Empty Container transportation center. This new facility is a joint venture of SIPG and four major container carriers: Maersk, CMA CGM, Evergreen, and MSC.

The new container yard covers an area of 450000 m2 and can handle a box capacity of 3 million TEU. With plans to implement a digital and intelligent management model, the facility will cater the services to clients from the Yangtze River delta, Northeast Asia, and other regions alongside the Yangtze River.

The import empty container volume at Shanghai Port is increasing 8.7% between January and August.
