Norwegian companies Evoy and Pascal Technologies have entered into a letter of intent (LoI) with Singapore’s Lita Ocean and SeaTech Solutions International to develop a fully electric, high-speed harbour craft tailored for Singapore’s maritime environment.

The project aims to create an electric passenger harbour craft that will incorporate advanced technologies such as electric propulsion and air lubrication systems to optimize energy efficiency and performance. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has mandated that by 2030, all harbour craft must either be fully electric, capable of using B100 biofuels, or be compatible with net-zero fuels like hydrogen.

Additionally, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Singapore-based green technology provider Yinson GreenTech and Evoy, focusing on regional marine electrification. This partnership will integrate Yinson GreenTech’s electrification solutions with Evoy’s electric propulsion systems to convert internal combustion engine (ICE) vessels to electric power and develop new electric vessels.

Together, the collaboration will work towards advancing the shift to a more sustainable maritime sector, exploring new opportunities, and contributing to the broader transition to eco-friendly shipping solutions across Asia. Mads Roland-Glimsholt, Business Development Manager at Evoy stated that they are excited to be part of this Norway-Singapore initiative and bring our high-performance electric propulsion systems to Singapore’s maritime industry. He further added that they are committed to setting new standards in sustainable harbour craft and working with their partners to drive a greener future in maritime transport.
