Maersk, a Danish shipping group, has announced that it is rerouting its ME2 Container Service away from the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Now, the vessels will be diverted around the Cape of Good Hope. The company has issued an advisory to its clients regarding the change in route.
The reason behind this decision is the ongoing attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis on ships in the region.
The new route will cover the coasts of India and the United Arab Emirates.
