Japanese to create engines for alternative fuel mix

Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) is working with compatriot Akasaka Diesels to plan and build hydrogen and ammonia ship engines. The joint venture has received funding from the Green Innovation Fund project through a Tokyo-based New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

For the development of ships and the required infrastructure for ammonia and hydrogen, Japanese shipbuilders and shipping liners are considered the world leaders.
