Israel introduces 0.1% Sulphur cap in berths and anchorages

From February 2023 onwards, Israel is introducing a Sulphur emission control area in its waters. All the ships anchoring at Israeli ports must burn marine fuels with a 0.1% maximum Sulphur content.
Last month, the member states of the International Maritime Organization agreed to create an ECA (Emission Control Area) across the Mediterranean in 2025. Other ECAs across the world like the Baltic Sea, the North American, the North Sea area covering designated coastal areas off the United States and Canada, and the United States Caribbean Sea area around Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands.
