India-Peru to resume FTA negotiation on Tuesday

India and Peru have recommenced a special round of negotiation for a FTA (Free Trade Agreement) that will strengthen trade and investment ties between both countries.

Discussion and negotiation were held on multiple chapters from rules of origin, trade of goods, customs procedures, barriers to trade, security exceptions, cooperation, legal issues, dispute settlement and much more. Besides that, the discussion will also be continued on services, investment chapters, transition of people based on mutual convenience and agreements.

The negotiations for the India-Peru Trade Agreement were initiated in 2017, and the fifth round was completed in August 2019 after that, there was no negotiation due to the pandemic. Now, the sixth round of discussion is ready to be initiated by December 2023 in Lima, Peru.
