India is set to enhance its presence in global trade by partnering with Singapore’s marine and shipping industry to promote green fuel adoption and digitalization in maritime operations. Singapore, which supplies over 55 million tonnes of bunker fuel annually to international vessels, is one of the world’s largest shipping hubs, making it an ideal gateway for India’s green fuel exports.
According to industry sources, both nations are actively exploring a Green Digital Shipping Corridor, which aims to create an integrated network of eco-friendly and technologically advanced shipping routes. This initiative is expected to not only boost sustainability in maritime trade but also strengthen India’s role as a key player in global green fuel exports. India has been steadily advancing its green energy initiatives, particularly in green hydrogen and ammonia production, which align with Singapore’s strategy to become a global leader in sustainable shipping fuels. The collaboration will focus on supplying low-emission fuels to vessels operating worldwide, further supporting international carbon reduction goals.
As part of this initiative, India is also investing in smart port infrastructure, digital supply chain solutions, and green refueling stations to enhance its shipping ecosystem. This partnership with Singapore is expected to accelerate India’s transition to cleaner shipping fuels, enhance port efficiency through digitalization, and contribute to a more sustainable global trade network.
