Freight train services between Bangladesh and India have restarted after a nine-month suspension. Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, station superintendent of Dinajpur Railway Station, confirmed that a freight train from India arrived at Birol corridor via rail. Train services between the two nations were halted in July last year due to political unrest in Bangladesh. However, freight movement through the Radhikapur-Birol corridor had already ceased in May due to low demand. Sangeet Dutta, station master of Radhikapur Railway Station, stated that the service has resumed after a long pause, with the first train carrying 46 wagons of ceramic dust powder used in plate manufacturing.

Bangladesh and India are connected by five railway corridors—Darshana-Gede, Benapole-Petrapole, Rohanpur-Singhabad, Birol-Radhikapur, and Chilahati-Haldibari—all passing through West Bengal. The rail network has significantly improved logistics between the two countries while reducing transportation costs. However, while Bangladesh imports various goods via rail, no exports are made in the opposite direction.
