China’s top shipping companies come together to map out a green future

The Chinese maritime biggest names are joining together to chalk out a greener path. The SSIDI (Sustainable Shipping Innovation and Development Initiative) is launched in Beijing by COSCO, China Classification Society and ICBC Financial Leasing, Sinopec, and China Merchants Energy Shipping.

SSIDI will be working on the economy, technology maturity, policies and regulations, fuel availability, safety, market mechanisms, and different aspects to get alternative fuels for shipping. CCS vice president Fan Quang said that this collaboration and knowledge-sharing approach is necessary as SSIDID will take a major role in the shipping industry for low carbon journey.
