Afghan govt. to install electronic scanners in multiple customs ports

The Afghan caretaker government has signed a contract to install 33 electronic scanners to improve security, reduce smuggling, and ensure thorough screening of commercial goods, according to a statement from the Economic Affairs Office on Saturday.
The $113 million investment will see these scanners deployed across 12 Customs ports in Afghanistan. The scanners will be set up at the following ports: Torkham, Hairatan, Spin Boldak, Islam Qala, Torghundi, Nimroz, Abu Nasr Farahi, Khost, Paktia, Aqina, and Sher Khan.
