A Glimpse of our Practices
Rooting Sustainability in Distribution
We're committed to a greener planet through our tree plantation initiatives. By planting trees, we actively offset our carbon footprint, enhance biodiversity, and support sustainable practices in logistics and distribution. Every tree planted is a step towards an eco-friendly future, ensuring our operations contribute positively to the environment.
Recognizing the need for land afforestation, we’re partnering with government bodies on community reforestation projects. Our operations rely on diesel generators, leading to 372 tCO2e emissions over ten years. To counter this, we've planted 2,280 native trees at our distribution centres, sequestering an estimated 383.7 tCO2e.
Onsite Solar Roof Installations
We are committed to achieving Scope 1 and Scope 2 neutrality by FY 2026. Our organisation is transitioning to renewable energy, aiming for 100% reliance by FY 2025. This commitment covers all operations across the globe, including inventory management and distribution centres.
Our Sustainability Policy highlights this transition through a Renewable Roadmap guiding our shift to renewable energy sources. For FY 2024, the total solar rooftop capacity is 304 kWp, while the projection for the same is around 1700 kWp. This results in an On-site rooftop solar system, amending the existing rooftop capacity by 1396 kWp to neutralize non-renewable electricity consumption for FY 25.
Sustainable Waste Handling Practices
The implementation of waste segregation and qualification measures at our sites has resulted in a notable reduction in waste generation. Third-party arrangements facilitate the recycling or appropriate treatment of waste. All hazardous waste generated is diligently managed and removed by the respective clients.
Across India, we have set up a microorganism-based natural composting facility with seven, 7000 KG beds to process daily biodegradable waste, including food leftovers and organic wastes.
We have also partnered with the certified E-waste management company, to handle our e-waste across all our sites.
Creating a Culture of Sustainability
Encouraging our team to participate in green initiatives and providing them with the resources to make a positive impact.
Acknowledging the substantial carbon footprint associated with business travel, we have taken a strategic approach to mitigating its environmental impact. Our approach fosters behavioral changes through enhanced awareness initiatives and targeted training programs. Initially, our efforts are concentrated on minimizing travel whenever practicable, advocating for video conferencing as a viable alternative.
We are exploring opportunities through behavioral change and strategic initiatives. Our internal study shows most employees commute to the office using public transport which contributes to 48% of our emissions, with 2% commuting by walking. We aim to reduce reliance on private transport by encouraging public transit and carpooling. As a strategic initiative, we are exploring the transition to electric vehicles, starting with two-wheelers.
Utilizing eco-friendly packaging materials is critical to mitigating environmental impact and preserving valuable resources. These materials, characterized by their biodegradability or recyclability, minimize waste accumulation and reduce pollution. Moreover, adopting eco-friendly packaging bolsters brand reputation and aligns with the preferences of environmentally conscious consumers.
We have established a school in the state of Uttar Pradesh as part of our initiative to facilitate education for underprivileged children in rural areas. The school is the only educational institution within a radius of approximately 10 kilometers and offers primary education up to standard 5. Operational since 2010, the school has provided educational opportunities to over 250 students from Riste and nearby villages.
