New Domestic Shipping Route Connects Chattogram and Mongla

A new domestic shipping service linking Chattogram and Mongla has been launched, marking a significant step in Bangladesh’s trade logistics. Operated by Sea Glory Shipping Agencies Ltd., the service is fully supported by the Chattogram and Mongla Port Authorities.

The first voyage, completed on February 14, saw the SAPL-1 MV transport 100 TEUs of empty containers from Chattogram to Mongla. This direct link is expected to reduce transit time and costs while offering exporters in Mongla access to international markets via Chattogram. Shipping experts note that while Chattogram has global connectivity, Mongla lacks direct international links. This initiative aims to bridge that gap, but experts stress the importance of streamlined customs processes to ensure efficiency.
